On September 19, teachers from across the Cambodia Education Network gathered for the second seminar of our Reading Instructor Certification Course.
This time, teachers learned three questioning methods for guiding children through a book, along with practical activities for every stage of reading: before reading, while reading, and after reading. They didn’t stop at listening. Each teacher designed their own activities and then demonstrated them in front of their colleagues.
One moment stood out. When we explored a book’s cover together, teachers were amazed at how much a single cover can open up: predictions, questions, curiosity, and conversation, all before the first page is even turned. Many said they had never looked at a book this way before.
By the end of the day, the teachers had one request: “Please hold the next seminar soon!”
A child who learns to love books learns to think, to ask, and to understand others. And that journey almost always begins with a teacher who knows how to open a book with them. We can’t wait to see you at Seminar 3!
